What makes a long distance relationship work?
theangrytherapist: Long distance, like any other relationship, only “works” if there’s a foundation. This means trust, communication, intimacy, etc., as well as similar goals for the relationship. I think building / keeping this foundation is the challenge when there’s an airport in between the couple. Many find this exhausting and expensive and that’s when cracks begin to appear. This is when...

You're Asking the Wrong Question
theangrytherapist: Instead of asking yourself how you feel about him/her.  Ask yourself how he/she makes you feel.  When you focus on what you like about someone, you are letting them off the hook.  This question allows fantasy.  If you flip it and ask how they make you feel, suddenly you’re snapped back into realty.  They are up at bat.  Are they striking out or hitting home runs?   I think we...

I am now officially a certified open water scuba...
So day 4 and the completion of my open water certification has arrived! Scuba diving is everything and more than what I imagined it to be. Got to experience being covered in a school of fish and having monster sized blue gropers and manta ray’s swim past my belly without a flinch. Managed to witness sheer drops of rock and coral shelves that opened up into more sea floor than you could...

My day in a nutshell.
Spent all morning making phone calls. Realised the insurance company hadn’t refunded me $200 for excess insurance I’d paid. 8D Pee’d into a cup. Blew into a hole. Felt like a guinea pig. Slept throughout the afternoon and woke up without my pants on. WTF. Exciting. Right?

Whilst I was asleep.. On her way out to close the door, apparently the door knob fell off after she had shut the door. Didn’t bother to tell me either. Woke up and was locked inside because turning my end of the knob meant nothing if the other side still wasn’t screwed on. Had to call from INSIDE my bedroom to the home phone because she couldn’t hear me calling out to her. I...

Life doesn't get better.
jellymelly: Only your concept of life improves. Always think positive, because nothing will ever be perfect. & Accepting that makes it seem as if your life improved, but it hasn’t, you’ve just learned to perceive life in a different way.

Nightly Notable
American girl staying in one of the hotel rooms came by to the front desk and had very subtley expressed any issue with her bathroom. Thinking it was a common issue with guest ensuites occasionally being locked from the inside, I asked her if she needed to have her door unlocked to which she declined. She leaned over the desk and in a hushed voice described what appeared to be the result of a...

Found out many things tonight
That I previously did not know and I’m still a little confused as to whether it was a good idea to have found out and what I should be thinking in regards to this. I now have a whole new perspective towards my parents. Whilst most children grow up thinking their parents are saints and raised them the best they could, there will always be underlying stories and other sides of the story that...

Day 2: Role as a Sibling
If I am the older sibling, I will befriend the younger ones. If I am the younger sibling, I will respect and love the older ones. Only when I can maintain harmonious relationships with my siblings am I being dutiful to my parents. When brothers take money and objects lightly, resentment won’t arise among us. When we tolerate each other’s words, anger naturally dissipates. In eating...

It’s nice. No, it’s more than just nice. Your company, your care, your touch and in a more complex way, your honesty. I lay awake in bed before drifting to sleep and ask myself what I think of you. What is it in you that makes me coming back for more? Is it perhaps the nonchalant nature of how you dress? The drastic switches between immaturity and monstrous individuality? How when I...
